Registro Storico • Historical Register

There are over 100 different models of Vespa made, from 1946 to today and all of them are still alive and conquering roads all over the World. Registro Storico (Historical Register) is dedicated to preserve the historic values and the importance of historic models to the World’s automotive history. It was one of the first brand registers in the two-wheeler world, anticipating the growing interest in Vespa collecting and inspiring many subsequent initiatives in this field.

Its founder, Mario Carini, a distinguished figure in Italian Vespismo, understood the importance of vehicle preservation for motorbike history. Currently, the register is headed by Luigi Frisinghelli, himself an expert collector and connoisseur of the sector. In the early years, spreading the concept of vintage Vespa preservation was a challenge, but the Register worked tirelessly to preserve the heritage of technical, historical and cultural information related to the Vespa.

The Registry’s first initiatives included Vespa events, shows and exhibitions, and parades of elegance reserved for vintage Vespas, which helped to stimulate interest and facilitate the exchange of information useful for the restoration and preservation of the vehicles.

The Registry’s activities have continued to grow over the years, both in Italy and abroad, culminating in the birth of the ‘Raduno Internazionale Registro Storico Vespa’ in 1988.

The Vespa Historical Register operates through the National Technical Commission, which met for the first time in Bologna in May 1986. This commission is responsible for issuing type-approval certificates to Vespas with Piaggio registered models produced between 1946 and 1982.
