VESPA GYMKHANA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – “80 YEARS of an ICON” 

PARTICULAR REGULATION / REGOLAMENTO PARTICOLARE

Art. 1 – Definition

Vespa riding skill events with obstacles set up in dedicated enclosed areas, aimed at enhancing riding technique, vehicle control and sporting spirit among Vespisti.

Manifestazioni di abilità vespistica ad ostacoli allestite in appositi spazi delimitati, finalizzate alla valorizzazione della tecnica di guida, del controllo del mezzo e dello spirito sportivo tra Vespisti.

Art. 2 – Organisation

The Organiser is Vespa Club Artena, member of Vespa Club d’Italia and therefore member of the Vespa World Club. An Event Director will be appointed. Route Marshals will be present along the course. A paddock area, public area and event area will be organised under safe conditions.

L’Organizzatore è il Vespa Club (VC) Artena , facente parte del VC d’Italia anch’esso membro del Vespa World Club. Sarà presente il Direttore di Manifestazione. Lungo il tracciato saranno presenti Commissari di Percorso. Sarà prevista area paddock, area pubblico e area manifestazione in condizioni di sicurezza.

Art. 3 – Participation

Participation is open to riders registered with a National Vespa Club regularly affiliated with the Vespa World Club for the current year. For minors, written consent from parents or legal guardians is required, if permitted by national regulations. Recommended minimum age: 14 years old. The use of an approved helmet, long sleeves, long trousers and closed shoes is mandatory. The use of protective equipment such as gloves, technical jacket, back protector and protections is strongly recommended.

La partecipazione è aperta ai conduttori iscritti ad un Vespa Club Nazionale regolarmente affiliato al Vespa World Club per l’anno in corso. Per i minori è richiesto consenso scritto dei genitori o tutori, se consentito dalla normativa nazionale. Età minima consigliata: 14 anni compiuti. È obbligatorio l’uso di casco omologato, maniche lunghe, pantaloni lunghi e scarpe chiuse. È fortemente consigliato l’uso di specifici DPI quali guanti, giacca tecnica, paraschiena e protezioni.

Art. 3 bis – Specific Italian Regulations (MotorNext)

For all events organised in Italy, current MotorNext / Libertas regulations shall also apply.

Per tutte le prove organizzate sul territorio italiano si applicano inoltre le disposizioni MotorNext / Libertas vigenti.

TOURING Category

Automatic Vespa models: ET, LX, Primavera, GT, GTS, GTV. Non-competitive touring and leisure event. Vehicles must comply with the Highway Code, riders must be legally authorised to ride the vehicle used, runs are individual without direct confrontation and rankings are based on skill and penalties.

Categoria TURISMO: Vespa Automatiche: ET, LX, Primavera, GT, GTS, GTV. Manifestazione a carattere mototuristico e ludico. Veicoli conformi al Codice della Strada, conducenti abilitati alla guida del mezzo utilizzato, prova in singolare senza confronto diretto e classifica basata su abilità e penalità.

SPORT Category

Smallframe and Largeframe manual gear Vespa models, including PK automatic. Technical non-competitive event with higher sporting content. The event takes place in a closed and delimited area. Participants must hold a VT category membership card and a medical certificate according to MotorNext guidelines. Runs are individual without direct confrontation and rankings are based on skill and penalties.

Categoria SPORT: Vespa Small e Large Frame con cambio manuale compresa PK automatica. Manifestazione tecnica non agonistica a maggiore contenuto sportivo. Area chiusa e delimitata. Tessera categoria VT e certificato medico di idoneità sportiva secondo linee guida MotorNext. Prova in singolare senza confronto diretto e classifica basata su abilità e penalità.

Art. 4 – Registrations

Registrations will be managed according to the organiser’s instructions until the maximum number of participants is reached: approximately 20 Classic Small, 20 Classic Large, 20 Automatic Small and 20 Automatic Large. The Club reserves the right to modify these numbers while maintaining a total maximum of 80 Vespisti. Only one individual registration is permitted in the available categories.

Le iscrizioni saranno effettuate secondo le indicazioni dell’organizzatore e fino al raggiungimento del numero massimo disponibile indicativamente 20 per le Classic Small, 20 per Classic Large, 20 Automatic Small e 20 Automatic Large. Il Club si riserva la possibilità di variare tali numeriche fermo restando il totale che dovrà essere sempre di 80 Vespisti. È ammessa una sola iscrizione individuale nelle categorie previste.

Art. 5 – Categories

A) CLASSIC SMALL – Telaio Piccolo – SPORT

B) CLASSIC LARGE – Telaio Grande – SPORT

C) AUTOMATIC SMALL – Automatiche Telaio piccolo – TURISMO

D) AUTOMATIC LARGE – Automatiche telaio grande – TURISMO

Art. 6 – Course

The course will include:

• – Average riding time between 40 and 80 seconds
• – Technical layout designed to avoid speeds above 25 km/h
• – Width between 120 and 140 cm except for specific obstacles
• – Adequate escape routes and safety areas

Within the first 20 metres from the start, in the event of a mechanical failure, the rider may repeat the run.

Il tracciato prevederà:

• – tempo medio di percorrenza compreso tra 40 e 80 secondi;
• – sviluppo tecnico tale da non consentire velocità superiori a 25 km/h;
• – larghezza compresa tra 120 e 140 cm salvo ostacoli specifici;
• – adeguate vie di fuga e area sicurezza.

Entro i primi 20 m dalla partenza, in caso di guasto meccanico, il partecipante potrà ripetere la prova.

Art. 7 – Obstacles

Technical obstacles included in the course may include:

• Slalom
• Narrow corridors
• Balance beam
• Cones to be moved
• Circles
• Technical squares
• Moving poles
• Other non-dangerous obstacles approved by the Event Director
  
  Saranno presenti all’interno del percorso della manifestazione di abilità ostacoli tecnici quali:
  • slalom;
  • corridoi stretti;
  • asse di equilibrio;
  • birilli da spostare;
  • cerchi;
  • quadrati tecnici;
  • aste mobili;
  • altri ostacoli non pericolosi approvati dal Direttore di Manifestazione.

Art. 8 – Penalties

• Cone knocked down: 10 seconds
• Foot on the ground: 10 seconds
• Any other support on the course (hand, shoulder, etc.): 10 seconds
• Incorrect execution of obstacle: 10 seconds
• Skipping or bypassing obstacle: 180 seconds
• Mechanical failure after 20 metres: 180 seconds

Engine shutdown or falling does not automatically imply disqualification unless continuation is impossible. Any cones knocked down or feet on the ground accumulated during the run will be counted as penalties.

Lo spegnimento del motore o la caduta non comportano squalifica automatica, salvo impossibilità a proseguire. Eventuali birilli abbattuti o piede a terra accumulati saranno conteggiati come penalità.

Penalties must not be based on subjective interpretation but must be clear and objective. For example, a cone must be knocked down, not simply moved, in order to receive a penalty.

L’assegnazione delle penalità non deve essere a interpretazione di un arbitro, bensì deve essere chiara ed oggettiva. Ad esempio per ricevere la penalità, un birillo deve essere abbattuto e non solamente spostato.

All cones knocked down count as penalties. If one cone falls and knocks down others, all of them count as penalties. For larger obstacles where displacement alone implies a penalty, a contour line must be marked around the base to clearly determine movement. Certain obstacle structures such as jumps, stairs and steps must be properly fixed to the ground to avoid danger.

Tutti i birilli abbattuti sono penalità. Se un birillo, cadendo, ne abbatte altri, tutti sono da considerare penalità. In caso di attrezzi grandi, per i quali è prevista la penalità anche solo se spostati, è obbligatorio tracciare una linea di contorno alla base degli stessi, in modo che sia inappellabile l’eventuale spostamento. Le strutture di alcuni ostacoli: salti, scale e scalini devono essere opportunamente fissate a terra in modo da non costituire pericolo.

Art. 9 – Event Procedure

The event will take place over two manche.

La manifestazione si svolge in due manche.

Category order: A, B, C, D.

Ordine categorie: A, B, C, D.

The starting order of the first heat for each category will be determined by draw and displayed on the official notice board before each manche.

L’ordine di partenza della 1ª manche per categoria sarà stabilito per sorteggio e dovrà essere affisso in apposita bacheca accessibile ai partecipanti prima di ogni manche.

The starting order of the second manche for each category will be the reverse order of the first manche classification.

L’ordine di partenza della 2ª manche per categoria è dato dall’ordine inverso della classifica della 1ª manche.

At the end of each run, the rider’s time and any penalties will be announced.

Al termine del percorso di ogni Vespista si deve rendere noto il tempo di prova più eventuali penalità.

The start will be given from a standing position with engine running by an event official. Riders must present themselves in the starting area at least 5 minutes before their assigned time.

La partenza sarà data da fermo con motore in moto da un ufficiale di manifestazione; il Conduttore dovrà presentarsi nella zona di partenza almeno con 5 minuti di anticipo rispetto all’orario assegnato.

It is strictly forbidden to test the course before the event, including with bicycles or other vehicles, under penalty of exclusion. Walking reconnaissance laps are allowed before both manche.

È assolutamente vietato provare il percorso prima della manifestazione, anche con biciclette o altri veicoli, pena l’esclusione dalla stessa. È consentito effettuare dei giri di ricognizione a piedi del percorso sia prima della prima manche sia prima della seconda.

Before the start, the Event Director will conduct a briefing in English and in the language of the host country, as well as a walking inspection lap for all participants, explaining obstacles, course features and penalties.

Il Direttore di manifestazione effettuerà, prima dell’inizio delle partenze, un briefing in inglese e nella lingua del Paese ospitante e un giro di ricognizione a piedi per tutti i partecipanti, durante il quale spiegherà la natura degli ostacoli, le caratteristiche di svolgimento e le penalità previste.

Art. 10 – Rankings

For each category, the best time achieved between the two manche, including penalties, will count.

Per ogni categoria vale il miglior tempo tra le due manche, comprensivo di penalità.

Additional Awards

1. NATIONAL TEAMS

The best 3 participants from each nation will be considered, with at least 1 rider not registered in the same category as the others. In case of equal points, the rider with fewer penalties in the best heat will be selected; if still tied, the rider with fewer penalties in the discarded heat will be selected.

Si prenderanno i migliori 3 partecipanti di ogni nazione con almeno 1 Vespista non iscritto nella stessa categoria degli altri. In caso di più partecipanti con lo stesso punteggio entrerà in squadra chi ha commesso meno penalità nella manche migliore, in caso di ulteriore parità chi ha commesso meno penalità nella manche scartata.

2. WOMEN’S RANKING

A dedicated Women’s ranking will be extracted.

Si estrapolerà la Classifica femminile.

3. UNDER 18 RANKING

A dedicated Under 18 ranking will be extracted.

Si estrapolerà la classifica Under 18.

Tie-break Criteria for Podium Positions

1. Lower total penalties
2. Best first heat
3. Equal placing

Rankings will be displayed on the official notice board at least 30 minutes before the prize-giving ceremony to allow for possible protests.

In caso di parità per il podio:

1. minor numero penalità totale
2. miglior prima manche
3. pari merito

Le classifiche saranno esposte nell’apposita bacheca almeno 30 minuti prima della premiazione per consentire eventuali reclami.

Art. 11 – Protests

Protests must be submitted in writing to the Event Director within 15 minutes from the publication of the rankings. 

I reclami devono essere presentati per iscritto al Direttore di Manifestazione entro 15 minuti dall’esposizione classifiche.

Deposit: €100, refundable if the protest is accepted.

Cauzione: €100, restituita in caso di accoglimento.

Videos, photos and official witness statements are admissible.

Sono ammessi video, foto o testimonianze ufficiali.
