The History of the Vespa Club of Israel

The Vespa Club of Israel has a rich history dating back to the 1950s, when it was first established by Matityahu Sarlin with the goal of promoting the use of Vespa scooters as a popular and cheap means of transportation. In addition to supporting and helping Vespa riders, the club also aimed to organize sports events and social activities, and to establish contact with Vespa clubs around the world.

During its short period of operation, which is believed to have lasted around three years, the club organized several trips throughout Israel, including to Jerusalem, Eilat, and the northern region and even a trip abroad. However, the club faced challenges such as difficulties with the authorities and changes in the price of vehicles, and eventually ceased its activities.

In the 1980s, small Vespa clubs emerged in Haifa and Tel Aviv, and operated for short periods of several years, organizing trips throughout the country.

The Current Vespa Club of Israel

Today, the current Vespa Club of Israel has been formally established in Tel Aviv since 2007, and is open to all Vespa owners, regardless of the model or age of their vehicle. From 2014, the club has been recognized by the Vespa World Club (VWC) as an official national club.

Founded by two lifelong Vespa fans, Oren Reznik and Elad Meron, the club brings together people with a shared love of the Vespa and provides a platform for members to connect and participate in social and sporting events. As a member of the Vespa Club of Israel, Vespa owners have the opportunity to participate in a range of social and sporting events organized by the club, including rides and trips to various destinations around the country and other types of social activities.

The Vespa Club of Israel offers its members the opportunity to participate in a variety of exciting trips and rides throughout the country. These trips not only allow Vespa enthusiasts to explore the beautiful landscapes and sights of Israel, but also provide a chance to connect with other members of the club and enjoy the camaraderie of shared interests.

One of the most popular destinations for Vespa club trips is the Dead Sea, known for its unique and therapeutic properties. Located at the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea is a natural wonder that offers a one-of-a-kind experience for Vespa riders. The club often organizes trips to the Dead Sea, allowing members to relax and rejuvenate in the salty waters, as well as explore the surrounding area.

Another popular destination for Vespa club trips is the Sea of Galilee, a freshwater lake located in northern Israel. The Sea of Galilee is an important historical and religious site, and is also a beautiful spot for a Vespa ride. The club often organizes trips to the Sea of Galilee, allowing members to explore the stunning surroundings and learn about the rich history of the region.

The Ramon Crater is another destination that is often included on Vespa club trips. Located in the Negev desert, the Ramon Crater is a geological wonder that offers breathtaking views and a unique landscape. Vespa riders can explore the crater and take in the stunning surroundings, while also enjoying the company of other members of the club.

One of the more adventurous trips offered by the Vespa Club of Israel is the trip to Kvish 10 (“Highway 10”), one of the most scenic roads in Israel. Although this road is usually only accessible to civilians on specific calendar days, the club often organizes trips along this route, allowing members to experience the beauty of the landscape and enjoy the thrill of the ride.

Overall, the Vespa Club of Israel offers its members a wide range of exciting and memorable trips, providing a chance to explore the beautiful sights and landscapes of Israel while also enjoying the company of fellow Vespa enthusiasts.
